Cookie Policy
Effective date: April 23, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Ember Digital LLC ("Ember," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites and web applications, including emberstorytime.com. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. Many companies publish similar notices; regulators also publish guidance (for example, the FTC privacy and security business guidance and the UK ICO's overview of cookies) for readers who want independent context.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs) that can read or write identifiers on your device. We use these technologies for security, account functionality, preferences, analytics, and product improvement.
How we use these technologies
Strictly necessary (authentication and security)
We use cookies and related mechanisms to keep you signed in, protect against fraud, and route requests securely. For example, our authentication provider sets session cookies required to maintain your login. Child listening flows may use a separate, access-controlled cookie scoped to child routes so a device can play approved content without a full parent login.
Functional (integrations)
Short-lived cookies may be used to complete secure OAuth flows (for example, linking third-party services such as Amazon Alexa) by preserving state across redirects.
Analytics and performance
On most of the Service, we use analytics tools to understand usage and performance. Depending on configuration, these tools may set cookies or use local storage to recognize browsers over time (for example, to measure repeat visits or attribute events). Providers include PostHog, Vercel Web Analytics, and Vercel Speed Insights. These are not loaded on child-designated listening routes under /kids, and PostHog is configured to opt out of capture while users are on those routes.
Your choices
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Service (including sign-in) may not work. You may also use industry opt-out tools where available for certain analytics providers.
If you are in a jurisdiction that requires consent for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we may add an in-product consent control and update this Policy to describe it. Until then, you can use browser settings to limit cookies; blocking analytics cookies may not affect strictly necessary cookies required for sign-in.
Do Not Track
There is no consistent industry standard for "Do Not Track" browser signals. We treat privacy requests submitted through the contact channel in our Privacy Policy in accordance with applicable law.
Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date.
